When you were discussing the influences of "Night of the Demon" I thought you might mention the film's method of visualizing the titular threat with drawings and old woodcuts, in the scene where O'Brien expounds on the prevalence of this thing throughout various cultures in history. In a quiet and understated way, the drawings confirm its reality as well as provide visual chills. I have always wondered if Spielberg was thinking of that when the police chief pages through illustrations of horrific shark attacks, especially when his big rubber shark was malfunctioning.
